Spread the Word and Make YOUR Community Safer!

Become a Safer Family Volunteer and help distribute the MFS Action Plan or Seven Steps Kit, to your Community.  There are two opportunities to choose from:

SAFER FAMILY VOLUNTEER (SFV)
SEVEN STEPS KIT VOLUNTEER (SKV)

Safer Family Volunteer

Your mission, as a Safer Family Volunteer (SFV), is to spread the word about the Safer Family Action Plan, and distribute them within your community.   NOKEP is currently seeking volunteers to email/distribute the "Make Your Family Safer in 15 Minutes or Less" Action Plan and the Safer Family Tips within their communities, worldwide.  Our goal is to give every family the tools they need to proactively gather and safeguard their emergency contact documents, medical information and vital documents in one, easy to retrieve place.  The guide and tips can easy be distributed via email or even printed on a regular black and white or color printer and distributed by individuals or even as a local service club project.

Our SFV's can also spring into action when natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, or floods are imminent, by
emailing the guides throughout the areas that will be affected.  By using email versus distributing hard copies, a small amount of emails – let's say a hundred -- can grow exponentially, very quickly.  Before you know it, everyone in the affected areas will have the information they need to keep the people they love safe.  And by helping facilitate it, you'll be potentially saving the lives of hundreds or even thousands of people!

As all of the recent disasters have shown, SFV's can also help families by distributing the Emergency Contact Forms (both the Adult and Children's versions) to those affected, when tragic events happen.  By filling out that simple form, disaster victims will have the information they’ll need in the days to come, to protect them in case they become injured, or to serve as a reference in case they cannot return home for an extended period of time.
SFV's can also broaden awareness by speaking about the Action Plan and tips at community gatherings, public speaking venues like Toastmasters or to community leaders, so they can learn about and use NOKEP's resources throughout your region.

We need volunteers who work well at their own pace and are self-directed.  If you would like to be an SFV, just complete the volunteer form and submit it to us through the web site.  You’ll be emailed the “Making Your Family Safer in 15 Minutes or Less” Action Plan and Safer Family tips along with our sample email and you're ready to go.  You're welcome to use the sample email as is, or customize it to fit your friends, the group your addressing or the flavor of your local community.  This also makes a great project for local organizations, service clubs, Toastmasters, schools, churches, emergency organizations and hospitals.

Junior Safer Family Volunteers (Jr.SFV’s) are gregarious, passionate about helping others and self directed with adult supervision.  Distributing the guide and tips make a great project for boys and girls clubs, scouts, youth groups, schools or other organizations – anyone who wishes to donate their time and energy into helping local families protect the people they love.

It's a great way to give back to the community and will be a great experience for everyone involved, young or old.

SEVEN STEPS KIT VOLUNTEER (SKV)

As a Seven Steps Kit Volunteer (SKV) you’ll influence your local medical community, and help it better serve your region.

Your mission, as a Seven Steps Kit Volunteer (SKV) is to spread the word about the Seven Steps to Successful Notification within your local hospital and medical community.    NOKEP is currently seeking volunteers who are either health care professionals or who have access to many health care professionals, to make them aware of the Seven Steps to Successful Notification.  This can be by emailing them the Seven Steps Information Kit, by word of mouth, spreading the the word about it, or referring them to our web site.  The Kit contains the Seven Steps Notification System along with sample chart pages and patient care tools your local emergency department and hospital staff members can use every time a patient comes into the emergency department unconscious or physically unable to communicate.  The Kit provides everything hospital staffs need to know, to locate the patient's emergency contact information, their next of kin and notify the family quickly and easily.

Not only does using the Seven Steps System save lives, it also greatly reduces a hospital's liability.  It does this by providing a member of the patient's family or other surrogate decision maker to be involved in making decisions for the patient's care.  That takes the burden off health care providers to decide, possibly incorrectly, what the patient would want, if he or she were conscious.

Our goal is to get the Kit into the hands of everyone who needs it.  You can help us do this by distributing emailed versions to nurses, doctors, chiefs of staff, directors of nursing, risk managers, social workers, administrators, CIOs and other key hospital decision makers.

It's also very important to spread the word about the Seven Steps System.  When doctors talk to doctors, or nurses to other nurses about how well this System works, they are much more likely to try it for themselves.   Great word of mouth spreads like wildfire and before you know it, every hospital in this country will have the information it needs to keep their patients safe as well as reduce their liability.  Talk about a win/win situation!
